Can’t we sing faster?

from the pastor

Dear People,

It was good to get a long break from routine and work, but it’s even better to be back.

Just as all of you were apprehensive about how you will cope without my pastoral care, I had my fears for all of you. I prayed desperately that no one would have a critical illness or some other crisis while I was away.

At the same time I was confident that with Indu, Jürgen, Rev J T Raja and Dr Usha Solomon filling the pulpit faithfully, you would not starve for the Word of God.

I was assured also that all of you would give each other love and care, having taken in the truth that has been preached for all the years that Grace Bible Church has been around. I knew that the seed sown would not fall to the ground without bearing any fruit. My being away has proved marvelously that you don’t need me to go on being a church.

But now that I’m back, would you please allow me to serve you? I’m a preacher and need a congregation. I need you.

In Christ’s love, Kuru

The Holiest Moment of the church service is the moment when God’s people—strengthened by preaching and sacrament—go out of the church door into the world to be the Church. We don’t go to church; we are the Church.

—Ernest Southcott

The Christian Church is not a static institution. It is men and women who flesh out in daily life the meaning of faith, the reality of the risen Christ.
